This workshop will highlight the why, what, and how of STEAM education for young children. We will share exciting research that demonstrates why STEAM experiences are critical for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Using a variety of dynamic learning modalities: engaging, hands-on activities, discussion, reflection, real-life stories from the teaching perspective, and PowerPoint/video, participants will have the opportunity to explore all five content areas of STEAM, and will gain insight into how all of these areas are interconnected. Participants will also learn how to encourage parent and family engagement in exploring STEAM-related concepts with children at home. Training participants will leave with resources, effective strategies, and practical, affordable ideas that can easily be adapted for immediate application in a variety of program settings.

At the end of this session the participant will be able to:
  • Learn specific STEAM activities that can be replicated at home or school
  • Create additional STEAM activities with materials they already have access
